India – Corbett Park to Himalaya Mountains

This tour, North of Delhi, concentrates on the area of and around the Corbett National Park and includes a visit to Pangot in the north eastern region of India. Our visit to Pangot will give us the opportunity to take-in great views of the Himalayas, weather permitting, and also give us opportunities to see such species as White-throated Laughing Thrush, Altai Accentor and other local specialities.Corbett Park was India’s first national park and is Tiger and Elephant country. It is ranked as one of the best managed parks in the subcontinent and is one of the last surviving stretches of untouched sub-Himalayan wilderness. The main area of the park has over 585 species of bird and 50 species of mammal, so we hope this should impress the most discerning of wildlife travellers!

The Indian sub-continent embraces an enormous range of habitats extending from the spectacular peaks of the Himalayas in the north, through forests, lakes and deserts to the moist hills in the south of the country where the shoreline is caressed by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Within these boundaries occur over 350 species of mammal, nearly 1300 species of birds ( 13% of the world’s total) and 600 species of reptiles and amphibians plus a myriad of insects and flowers. The constant presence of archaeological reminders of the country’s extraordinary history and the fascination of becoming immersed into a completely unique and complex culture are reasons enough to visit India. However, for anyone interested in wildlife then the attractions of wild India are simply too great to resist. Colourful and diverse are two adjectives nearly always applied to India and both perfectly describe the flora and fauna.

No matter which criteria you use to judge India, it is one of the most diverse and exciting holiday destinations on earth.

Reserving your place is both easy and inexpensive!
